What's Happening at ODUBCM?
Revival On Thursday
If you see where I'm going with this, dope! If you don't, hold on tight!
Our mission at BCM is to connect students and young adults to community through reconciliation and creativity. Reconciliation looks like having sometimes hard, taboo or uncomfortable conversations, it looks like linking arms in issues about things that may not affect us personally, it looks like gathering and making sure everyone has space to be heard and understood. Creativity looks like whatever we make it to be, that could mean dancing, singing, painting or it could mean cooking, solving math problems or learning how to live a life for Christ in our everyday. Seems like a lot?
That's where: Revival On Thursday comes in. This is a set time where we can gather weekly to discuss, wrestle and explore the things that make life a little harder, a lot more interesting and a million times sweeter which will in turn strengthen and revive us. Some weeks will look like gathering around a meal, some weeks will look like bible study, some weeks will simply be whatever Holy Spirit desires it to be - and it will all work together to bring us into a deeper understanding of who we are and Who's we are.
So tell me, will you be at Revival On Thursday? I sure hope so!
See you soon!
Since I was in undergrad I've been hearing amongst different people that there is going to be "revival" in the 75. It was exciting, it felt lofty and heavenly and spiritual and it was on our fingertips.
I say lofty because I don't know about you, but in my head a "revival" meant something like what happened in Acts 2 - a mighty rush of Holy Spirit, people receiving gifts and doing super cool spiritual things, plus masses of people coming into the family of Christ... Which, don't get me wrong - can be a part of a revival.
However, God led me to something recently which made "revival" feel far less lofty and a lot more accessible. He told me to look up the definition.
Revival
-
an improvement in the condition or strength of something.
-
an instance of something becoming popular, active, or important again.
-
a new production of an old play or similar work.
And as far as a Christian definition, revival is simply: God's people realizing or coming into an understanding of their true nature and purpose
