Meet The Team
Campus Minister
Meet Brandess!

Brandess is an ODU Alum who received a BA in Studio Art and a minor in Psychology in 2019/2020. About a year after graduating and in the thick of the pandemic, she was given the opportunity to join the ODUBCM team as the ministry associate. She had no clue that several months later she'd be stepping into the role of interim minister and a year after that she had no clue she'd still be here! God is funny though and knows exactly what He's doing, she is now living a dream (that can sometimes feel like a nightmare of hard work, stepping out of her comfort zone and trying things she never knew she could do) and everyday she is grateful that God is helping her get out of her own way and into His plan.

Brandess is looking forward to continuing the work of those who came before her, which is creating a safe space for students/young adults to ask questions, wrestle and learn more about who they are and what they're called to.
Ministry Assistant
Meet Gene!

Gene has been volunteering with us for several years now. As a retired engineer, he loves tackling projects, using his expertise and practical skills to do anything from updating light fixtures in the building to replacing doors, to building care. He is a gift and makes sure the building feels like a good space for students to be. We are so grateful for his heart to serve and his dedication to the students!
Community Chair
Meet Hope!

Hope is the community chair for the BCM. She's been included with the BCM for 2 years now. She is a sophomore majoring in Elementary Education.
She joined the BCM and became community chair for college students to have a Christian outlet. A lot of us are coming out of the pandemic and don’t know the next steps. BCM can be a safe and fun place for Christian Adults.
Intern
Meet Gabrielle!
Gabrielle is an intern at the BCM. She is a cinema major with a minor in psychology.
She has always been involved in working with community and the BCM was a community that peaked her interest. She loves the atmosphere that the people have and the way they genuinely care for one another. She chose to get involved at the BCM because she felt like it was the place where she needed to be.

Gabrielle is so thankful for being involved in this community and this amazing opportunity.
Intern
Meet Malcolm!
I’m Malcolm Lott Jr a M.O.G a young artist who loves the Lord and enjoy spending time doings artsy things and challenging myself to grow, become individual and also love fellowshipping with others. I enjoy just being authentically myself. I chose the intern role at BCM to enjoy the and understand more what’s it like to be a leader in ministry carrying the tools of what leadership looks like and how to carry that out in my own life and ministries and rooms that God may place me in.
Media Manager
Meet Tyarria!
Tyarria is a 22 years old student at ODU who is currently a Senior studying photography and print media.
She loves to create and just being free in the ability to create. The BCM became apart of my community my freshman year in college. At first, I was uncomfortable when coming around but everyone involved with the BCM made me feel welcomed and allowed me to be comfortable in who I was and what my life looked like at that time. Now skip ahead and I now have the opportunity to serve on the team for BCM. I chose the Media Manager position because I felt as if it would stretch me more when it came to the social media aspect of things, but it would also allow me to create a space to have fun with the students while interacting with them. Getting them to make fun videos, asking their opinion on different topics, and even just highlighting small moments during different events and activities that we do. It's a great feeling to be able to showcase the love of Christ but also having fun with it, no limitations.
Outreach Advocate
Meet Jocelyn!
Hi, My name is Jocelyn. I first encountered the BCM during a carnival-style outreach event in the fall of 2022. I was greeted with so much love that I knew this is where I was meant to be. I am a biochemistry major with a love for the Lord and a curious spirit about the world he created. A motto that I have grown to love and chosen to live by is Christ first, others second, and yourself third. Because I enjoy using my time to serve the Lord and others I knew that being the outreach advocate was the perfect position for me. This position allows me to help others encounter the joy that can be found through service to our community. Every day that God gives me is a day I seek to shine my light and use the Joy that God has given me to encourage those around me and be the salt of the earth that God has called me to be.
Student Liaison
Meet Tamia!
My name is Tamia Copeland. I was raised in Suffolk, Va. I am a 2019 ODU Alumna and currently work for the university. I love to serve and connect with diverse groups of people. Being the student liaison matched my heart to connect students with Godly community who would help them to not only connect with those like them but to grow in areas of their faith and community involvement. I value the Godly community I was able to gain when I was a student at Old Dominion University and now that I work on campus and am involved in the BCM, I felt that it was a beautiful opportunity for me to help the students I came across get connected to other Christian students and a campus ministry that would be a place for them to learn more about themselves, others, and Christ while either establishing or further developing in their Christian journey and experiencing such a pivotal time in their lives here at college. It brings joy to my heart to see people grow and to connect them to resources that may help them expand past where they are to where they want or need to be.

Worship Advocate
Meet Leslie!
Hi my name is Leslie Adu and I am a senior at old dominion university. My major is Criminal Justice and some things about me is that I am a Gospel singer and I love to cook. My position at the BCM is the worship advocate. What made me interested in selecting this position was the very fact that it ties into my gifting, which is singing. I felt this position would be a great fit for me because not only would I be able to engage in worship experiences myself, as I grow in my relationship with Christ, but that I also get to help cultivate experiences for people to experience God, through music, as His Holy Spirit makes His way in our hearts. It is great to see the endless impact and inspiration that you can help lead people into to Christ, through songs. It’s just a beautiful position, and I am very glad to serve in it!!
